Penny Green has spent over 30 years in the pensions industry, most recently spending 17 years as Chief Executive Officer of SAUL Trustee Company, trustee of the support staff scheme of the University of London, an open defined-benefit pension scheme with over 38,000 members and circa £2 billion in assets.
Working with the SAUL Investment Committee and investment consultants, Penny led on developing innovative investment strategies for alternatives, equities and credit.
Prior to joining SAUL in 1998, she spent five years as Deputy Chief Executive of the Pensions Advisory Service. She was also the first female President of the Pensions Management Institute and has been involved in other industry bodies focused on improving the member experience.
In her capacity as a Trustee Executive for BESTrustees, Penny is Chair of Trustees of the Hackwood Final Salary Pension Scheme, Trustee of a closed defined benefit pension plan of the Premier Pensions Defined Benefit Master Trust, Trustee of the Atlas Master Trust provided by Capita and Trustee of the Mothercare Pension Schemes. In addition, Penny is now a trustee of SAUL and sits on the investment committees of the Charities Aid Foundation and Homerton College, Cambridge.
