BESTrustees is not legally required to publish a modern slavery statement, in line with the requirements of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, because our company does not meet the criteria due to its size and our turnover.

However, BESTrustees is happy to acknowledge the importance of counteracting modern slavery to us. Our board of directors confirms that it uses best endeavours to ensure that our supply chains are free from slavery and human trafficking and that it will not tolerate any violation of fundamental human rights.

BESTrustees is connected to many companies through the pension schemes on which our trustee executives work, but these companies are not part of BESTrustees’ supply chain. Our supply chain is relatively small, and almost all our suppliers are based in the UK, where the risks of modern slavery occurring are generally low.

However, we acknowledge that there is a very small risk of human trafficking, as defined by the Modern Slavery Act 2015, and the company is committed to doing all it can to mitigate that risk. We mainly do this by reviewing supplier contracts. On occasions, we may carry out due diligence by visiting premises. If concerns are raised at any time, we will follow them up in an appropriate way.

All members of staff have access to a copy of our modern slavery policy, which is reviewed periodically by the Board of BESTrustees.
