Karen Theobald

Karen Theobald is a highly experienced pensions professional having previously been both an adviser and Chair of Trustees.

Prior to joining BESTrustees, Karen was a senior pensions consultant with Conduent (formally Buck Consultants) for almost 20 years. In addition to her responsibilities for the cohesive delivery of client services, Karen also initiated and developed a number of technical solutions including Data Journey administration services, benefit audit services, and PPF actuarial and administration services.

Karen is appointed to a number of trustee boards (both DB and DC) as Chair, as co-trustee and as part of a Sole Trustee team. With her background as a pensions professional she is able to contribute and lead deploying personal expertise, knowledge and problem-solving skills. As a Chair of Trustees, Karen develops a robust governance framework and guides schemes through valuations, negotiating recovery plans, Covenant assessments, investment strategy reviews and restructurings. She also sits on the BESTrutees Sole Trusteeship Governance Committee.

Karen is an accredited professional trustee with the APPT, has volunteered as a board member of the PLSA Scotland Group and has also been a member of the BESTrustees Employee Forum. Away from pensions, Karen enjoys long distance cycling, having undertaken the Land’s End to John o’ Groats route in 2022.
