Susan Hunter

Susan is a highly respected finance director with over 30 years’ experience in the pensions industry. Before joining BESTrustees in 2024, she was Group CFO at The People’s Partnership, the UK’s largest private workplace master trust pension scheme.  Previously, she held senior finance roles at Legal & General.

She provides the financial experience and support needed to navigate the complexities of pension scheme management.  Her knowledge and expertise includes compliance, financial reporting, robust risk management, strategic planning, budgeting, cashflow and trustee education. Examples of situations where she has developed and implemented positive outcomes include valuations, funding arrangements, covenant assessments, closing schemes to future accrual and initiating buy-ins and buy-outs.

She has a particular interest in ensuring the good governance of pension schemes and guiding boards through complex issues. She has a track record of building frameworks for sound financial management and engaging with trustees to deliver good outcomes for members. She builds excellent stakeholder relationships at all levels. She is quick to understand the detail, distil complex problems and offer innovative and practical solutions.

Outside of work Sue is passionate about the Arts and plays a supporting role to the Treasurer of the Roseland Festival in Cornwall.
