Denise has wide-ranging experience as a Chairman of Trustees of final salary pension schemes. She has spent more than 15 years as Chairman of Trustees of two substantial schemes (assets approx. £980 million and £550 million). In addition, she now chairs five schemes with a Canadian parent (assets £3 million to £51 million) represents BESTrustees as lead trustee/trustee committee member of three schemes (assets £0.5 million, US parent, £10 million, UK parent and £268 million, French parent) and is Chairman of the Pensions Advisory Panel for a major not-for-profit organisation.
She has developed extensive knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting pension schemes particularly with regard to the development of appropriate investment strategies, in-depth covenant evaluations and the creation of effective governance policies. She is an experienced negotiator and has played a key role in achieving effective outcomes in difficult negotiation situations. She is always conscious of the need to achieve an acceptable balance between the funding needs of the pension scheme and the business priorities of the sponsoring employer.
