Alison Munro joined BESTrustees in 2013 and became a Board Director on 1 June 2017. Alison is responsible for all of BESTrustees’ business and operational activities.

Alison gained extensive commercial experience whilst undertaking senior roles within IT in Financial Services and within the Education Sector. She combines this background with strong first-hand knowledge of pension trusteeship dating back to 2003.

She was an active trustee of the one of the UK’s first very large DC pension schemes. She chaired the Governance Sub-Committee and led the scheme’s complex wind-up when the company decided to move to a GPP. She also spent just over a year working in a role in policy development within the Pensions Regulator on DC, Governance and Administration.

Since joining BESTrustees, she has acted on two other pension schemes, a large hybrid arrangement which implemented LDI and a partial buy-in and a smaller DB sole trusteeship. Her pension trustee experience has included a large scheme merger, a change of administrator, and major investment transitions.
