BESTrustees Limited, has announced that Julie Stothard will be joining them on 23 September as Chief Executive. Alan Pickering, BESTrustees Chairman, said, “We are delighted that Julie has agreed to join us at this stage in the evolution of our firm. We are now an employee ownership trust and want to ensure that all our colleagues fulfil their potential in the growing market for professional trusteeship services. Julie has fulfilled a number of client facing roles and, more recently, undertaken leadership responsibilities. It is this mix that made Julie particularly attractive to our Board.”
Having trained as an actuary with the Co-operative Group, Julie subsequently worked for Watson Wyatt and Capita. Julie said, “Given the opportunity to join BESTrustees at this point in the evolution of pension scheme governance is truly exciting. Following the launch of the EOT, it is a time of change for BESTrustees and I look forward to playing my part in the implementation of that change.”
Continuing on the theme of change, Alan Pickering said “I have been honoured to serve as Chairman of BESTrustees for the last 10 years. I am particularly proud that we have created a leading business which is wholly owned by all of its employees. A change of role is timely for me. I will be stepping down from the Board on 30 September providing Julie and my board colleagues with the flexibility they need to create a forward-looking leadership team. I can now concentrate on my client responsibilities and seek to fulfil the ambassadorial role which goes with the title of President that my colleagues have kindly bestowed on me”.
